The F. League (in Japanese: "F・リーグ", officially "日本フットサルリーグ", Nihon Futtosaru Rīgu) is the top league for Futsal in Japan. The winning team obtains the participation right to the AFC Futsal Club Championship.
History
The league was formed in 2007 as a complement for the elimination tournament, (the current Puma Cup) which groups regional futsal champions into a final elimination phase.
The league operates on the sports franchise system, with no promotion or relegation of clubs. The clubs are thus expansion teams. In 2009 the number of clubs was increased from 8 to 10 with the addition of Fuchu Athletic and Espolada Hokkaido.
In F. League play, the clubs battle each other three times: once at home, once away and once in a neutral venue (generally Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo). The season runs from August to February.
An elimination league cup, the Ocean Cup is played every season by the 12 F.League teams.
De Japan F-League is de hoogste futsalcompetitie in Japan en een van de meest prestigieuze futsalcompetities ter wereld. De competitie werd opgericht in 2007 en bestaat uit 12 teams die in een round-robin systeem spelen.

**Wedstrijden en format**
De F-League begint in februari en eindigt in juni. Elk team speelt 22 wedstrijden, verdeeld over thuis- en uitwedstrijden. De Top 4-teams aan het einde van het reguliere seizoen plaatsen zich voor de play-offs.
**Play-offs**
De play-offs bestaan uit een halve finale en finale, die best-of-three worden gespeeld. De winnaar van de finale wordt gekroond tot kampioen van de F-League.
**Belangrijke spelers en teams**
De F-League heeft een aantal topspelers in actie, waaronder Katsuyoshi Shinjo (Shonan Bellmare), Akihito Ozawa (Nagoya Oceans) en Takuma Obara (Tachikawa Angeloch). Nagoya Oceans is het meest succesvolle team in de geschiedenis van de F-League, met 10 titels.
**Internationale invloed**
De F-League is een belangrijk platform voor futsal in Japan en Azië. Het Japanse nationale futsalteam heeft zich regelmatig gekwalificeerd voor de FIFA Futsal World Cup, en vele spelers uit de F-League hebben het nationale team vertegenwoordigd.
