Shreveport Rafters FC was a soccer team based in Shreveport, Louisiana. Founded in 2016, the team most recently played in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national semi-professional league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. The team plays its home games at Independence Stadium. The team's colors are blue, white, and yellow, based on the city's flag.

History

In 2015, Shreveport-based brothers announced they would be bringing the first professional soccer team in the history of the city. The team is named for the infamous Great Raft log jam which clogged the Red and Atchafalaya Rivers from the 1100s to early 1900s.

Rafters FC played their inaugural season in 2016, garnering an 8–7–3 record.

Rafters FC debuted a customized jersey that became a viral sensation in soccer media as it featured a printed seersucker jacket and pink bowtie.

Shreveport Rafters FC is een professionele voetbalclub in Shreveport, Louisiana. Het team speelt zijn thuiswedstrijden in het Independence Stadium. De club werd in 2019 opgericht en speelt in de National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). De hoofdtrainer van de club is Scott Gernander.

De Shreveport Rafters FC werd opgericht in 2019 door een groep lokale investeerders. De club trad in 2020 toe tot de NISA en speelde zijn eerste seizoen in 2021. De Rafters eindigden hun eerste seizoen op de tweede plaats in de Southern Division.

De thuiswedstrijden van de Shreveport Rafters FC worden gespeeld in het Independence Stadium, een multifunctioneel stadion met een capaciteit van 18.000 toeschouwers. Het stadion werd gebouwd in 1922 en is de thuisbasis van verschillende sportteams, waaronder de Shreveport Mudbugs (ijshockey) en de Shreveport Bats (honkbal).

Shreveport Rafters FC heeft een aantal opvallende spelers in zijn selectie, waaronder doelman Akira Fitzgerald, verdediger Evan Waldrep en middenvelder Josiel Nunez. De club heeft ook een actieve jeugdopleiding die jonge spelers in de regio ontwikkelt.
