Wikipedia - CD Acero

Club Deportivo Acero (often shortened to CDA or CD Acero, 'Steel Sporting Club' in Spanish) is a Spanish football team based in Puerto de Sagunto (an urban nucleus in Sagunto), in the Valencian Community, Spain. Founded in 1919 it plays in Tercera Federación – Group 6, holding home games at Estadio El Fornàs, which has a capacity of 4,500 spectators.

History

Football reached Sagunto city when the Basque sailors who docked at the commercial port played the game with the locals. In 1919 Sporting Club was founded, bringing the colors of the Athletic Club in honor of the steel company. In the early 1920s the club began to play against such popular teams, like Valencia CF or Levante UD, thus developing in a more professional way.

After the Spanish Civil War, the use of foreign idioms was forbidden, so the football team was renamed to Club Deportivo Acero.

Acero is een Spaanse voetbalclub uit Puerto de Sagunto in de regio Valencia. De club werd opgericht in 1919 en speelt zijn thuiswedstrijden in het Estadio El Fornàs. Acero komt uit in de Segunda División B, het derde niveau van het Spaanse voetbal.

De club heeft een rijke historie en heeft verschillende keren in de Segunda División gespeeld. In 1952 bereikte Acero zelfs de finale van de Copa del Rey, waarin het verloor van Barcelona.

In de afgelopen jaren heeft Acero het moeilijk gehad en is het afgezakt naar de Segunda División B. De club hoopt echter snel weer terug te keren naar het hogere niveau.

Acero is een club met een trouwe aanhang en een rijke historie. De club is een belangrijk onderdeel van de gemeenschap van Puerto de Sagunto en hoopt in de toekomst weer successen te behalen.
