Wikipedia - Latvijas Universitāte men's basketball
The Latvijas Universitāte men's basketball team represents University of Latvia in Riga, Latvia, also known as LU. and it plays in the Latvian Basketball League and Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.
The LU once won seven Latvian championships in the 1930s and returned to the Latvian League Division 1 before the 2010-11 season. The biggest accomplishment so far has been 4th place in the 2011-2012 season.
Team is organized by University of Latvia.
Basketbalteam Latvijas Universitate (LU) is een professionele basketbalclub uit Riga, Letland, die uitkomt in de Letse Basketballiga (LBL). De club werd opgericht in 1921 en is daarmee een van de oudste basketbalclubs in Letland. De thuisbasis van LU is de Vidzemes Olimpiskais Centrs, die plaats biedt aan 1.250 toeschouwers.
LU is een van de meest succesvolle basketbalclubs in Letland, met 12 LBL-titels (1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1938, 1942, 1943, 1946, 1950, 1956, 1957, 1958) en 15 Letse Bekertitels (1942, 1943, 1949, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1967, 1975, 1991). De club heeft ook deelgenomen aan verschillende Europese competities, waaronder de EuroLeague, de EuroCup en de FIBA Europe Cup.
In het seizoen 2022/23 speelt LU in de LBL en de FIBA Europe Cup. De belangrijkste spelers van het team zijn onder andere:

* Kaspars Bērziņš (forward)
* Kristaps Janičenoks (center)
* Kristaps Porziņģis (forward)
* Ronalds Zakis (guard)
