El-Qanah Football Club (Arabic: نادي القناة لكرة القدم), also known as Canal SC or Suez Canal, is an Egyptian football club based in Ismailia, Egypt. The club currently plays in the Egyptian Second Division, the second-highest league in the Egyptian football league system.
History
The club was founded in 1935 as a group of Ismailia born contractors formed a football team calling it "Badran Club". In 1948 the club members succeeded to convince the board of the Suez Canal company to merge the Badran club with the company to form "El Qanah" with the Frenchman Paul Blan as a president to take part in the league. The team promoted to the Egyptian Premier League on the 1953–54 season, and played for 27 seasons on the topflight.
Al Qanah is een Egyptisch voetbalteam uit Al Qanah. De club is opgericht in 1969. Al Qanah speelt zijn thuiswedstrijden in het Al Qanah Stadium, dat een capaciteit heeft van 5.000 toeschouwers. De clubkleuren zijn blauw en wit.
Al Qanah is een van de succesvolste clubs in de Egyptische voetbalgeschiedenis. De club heeft drie keer het Egyptisch kampioenschap gewonnen, in 1972, 1973 en 1974. Al Qanah heeft ook twee keer de Egyptische beker gewonnen, in 1971 en 1973.
In de jaren 1970 was Al Qanah een van de topclubs van Afrika. De club won in 1972 de CAF Champions League, de Afrikaanse beker voor landskampioenen. Al Qanah was de eerste Egyptische club die dit toernooi won.
In de recentere jaren is Al Qanah niet meer zo succesvol geweest. De club speelt in de Egyptische tweede divisie.
